LINUX PRIMER FOR BIOLOGISTS
This workshop is designed for biologists interested in learning the basics of the Linux Operating System (OS) and its application to data-driven research. Linux OS has been the de-facto standard to run various data-research applications, providing users with greater flexibility, customisation and ease in data management and analysis. Participants will be taught on various aspects of the Linux operating system, including installing and configuring the operating system, basic Linux commands, data parsing using text editor, file management system, and installing Linux applications, among others. Participants will be also taught shell scripting using BASH and application of selected popular bioinformatics tools as a case study.
